Forgotten and forsaken, the colony of Babylon sits at the edge of explored territory, a lonely outpost facing the unknown...

This 28mm scale card models kit contains all of the printable files and step-by-step assembly instructions you need to create a sprawling futuristic colony with towers, stairways and elevated walkways. Transform your tabletop with just a few affordable supplies and some spare time. Are they sturdy? Yes! You can safely use most ordinary metal miniatures on cardstock terrain made from cover-weight paper.

Modular kit: Your models can be arranged in lots of different ways on your tabletop. Place them next to each other to form separate rooms in a large complex, and stack them on each other to create towers and balconies. Add stairways, walkways, rooftop transmitters, and ladders wherever you like. All of these components can be rearranged from one battle to the next.

Accessible interiors: All of the building levels have lift-off roofs and textured interior areas so you can move the action indoors.

Easy to build: Each part of this kit is easy to build, requiring just a few ordinary craft supplies. No paper modeling experience is necessary! The instructions booklet tells you everything you need to know, and will point you to even more resources. You will need heavy 110# US letter-size or 199gsm A4 cardstock sheets to print on, hobby knife, scissors, metal ruler, cutting mat, white paper glue, poster putty, and some mat boards or other mounting boards.

To see how fun and easy it is to create paper models, try out the free Hovel or Cargo Pods kits from Dave Graffam Models.

Multi-layered PDFs: The PDF files in this kit include optional graphics layers that you can control with the click of your mouse before you print, giving you control of window and door positions and other details. You can print many versions of the same component, all with a distinct look.

Ready to print: For your printing convenience, this kit includes a selection of prepared JPG files that do not require a PDF reader and can be easily edited using your favorite graphics software.

15mm to 28mm scale: The models are set up for the standard 28mm gaming scale, but can be printed at 15mm, 18mm (HO model railroad scale), 20mm, and 25mm scales as well. Instructions for adjusting your printer settings are included.

Software requirements: You'll need Adobe Reader to get full use of these layered PDFs.

Are the cut files available for these sets? I noticed that you can turn on registration marks, but there are no cut files.

Thank you, Dave, for adding the upgrade. It's already a wonderful set, and with the brown and grey layers you added, it's like giving us two additional sets, free. I appreciate it, and I am sure we all do.

Your work is the Gold Standard for card terrain. Thanks for all the great stuff which makes our games better.

For those of you wanting gray models, try printing it in grayscale and see what you get.

Would this set work for Heroclix? Is it possible to add a grid to the base and floors of the model? Thanks!

I've been an avid fan of Dave Graffam models for a long time, and I own most of them. However, for me, the price is a bit high, so I'll be passing on this one. But I'd like to add that Babylon is a very cool-looking structure! As always, Mr. Graffam creates the best!

I'm a Dave Graffam fan as well, and own many of his fantasy/medieval models. I haven't bought this set yet, because I'm not much of an SF gamer, but I will point out that compared to most of his other kits, this one is modular and MASSIVE. Notice that this PDF is 50 pages, when most of Dave's models are in the 4-6 page range. This isn't a kit for a single building--it's effectively a kit for an entire, self-contained city (or colony, more accurately). If you look at it that way, it's the equivalent of eight or ten of Dave's usual models, so the $15 price point is not out of line with what the package contains.

Jeffrey, thank you for pointing out the number of pages and the size of this model... I had not noticed that before (unfortunately, I seldom think of checking the product info in the right-hand panel). Yes, I now agree the price is more than justified. Even though I, too, am not a sci-fi gamer, I must admit the largeness of the model has me interested and maybe someday I'll purchase it just for the sake of seeing the final size of the product together. Thank you, Mr. Graffam, for once again coming up with such an impressive model.

Hi, can the models be disassembled to a flat package for easy storage?

As I've seen on the instructions, you can fold the walls into a flat shape if you don't glue the floor on them but you can't do this on the expansion walls or the stairs or the elevated walkways, so better think not.

But since the roofs are removable, you should be able to stack them one into another, for example, a 8"x8" can store a 6"x6" with a side glued stair, and into it you can store a 4"x4" one.

Hello! Some of the components in this kit can be collapsed for easier storage, but most cannot. I felt that it was more important that the components be sturdy and stackable while remaining easy to assemble.

Does it have layers to change its base color to another one different than yellow?

I was wondering about this as well. It'd be nice if it matched some of my other more traditional gray buildings.

Sorry for any confusion!

To be clear, this set is called "Babylon - Construction Yellow" and what you see in the promo images is what you can expect to find in the PDFs. The components are mostly dingy yellow with gray metallic details.

I don't want to talk very much about my plans for future Babylon kits, but it's probably safe to assume that I'll be releasing this kit in some different color variations.

I've been waiting with much anticipation for you to produce more buildings I can use with 40K/Infinity. Thanks for your hard work! This looks great but I think I'll need to buy more yellow cartridges. I think I'll be running out over Labor Day weekend. :)

Yes, David, the confusion wasn't about the yellow color, was that we didn't knew that the same package was going to be released a part in other color schemes. If were known that other color schemes were planned, althouhg those colors in fact weren't known, then those who has been strugling to find a way to make the Babylon set to fit with the rest of the scenery made (which most of the time the grey, blue and white are the predominant colors) could wait to another color one. I bought the yellow one just because it can more or less fit with the bunker Deluxe kit that I printed because is bronce and grey, but most of my scenery follows a grey Pattern. The red one fits really better with my scenery than the yellow one...

So, you don't need to apologize for the confussion, but with future kits, could be nice.

When I get time, I'll probably build a city combining those which fit with a Yellow-Red scheme and present the other constructions to a friend, so my table will have only Your models...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
